Ryan O’Sullivan has demonstrated unwavering commitment both academically and socially in pursuit of his goals. He embarked on his undergraduate journey at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Business, complemented by a minor in Mandarin Chinese. To enhance his language proficiency and fully immerse himself in the Chinese culture, Ryan undertook a transformative study abroad experience at the Minzu University of China in Beijing. This endeavor not only broadened his global perspective but also contributed to his adaptability and problem-solving skills, culminating in a remarkable first-place win in a photo contest for his Global Classroom entry.

Further enriching his academic experience, Ryan proudly served as a teaching assistant for Managerial Accounting under the guidance of Professor Alan Mayer-Sommer. Professor Sommer, a distinguished member of the CMA/CPA, the Institute of Management Accounting, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Accounting Association, boasts an impressive teaching history, having instructed accounting classes for esteemed institutions such as the U.S. Department of Labor and the American Society of Association Executives. He has authored numerous publications, including “An Examination of the Relationship Between Ethical Behavior, Espoused Ethical Values, and Financial Performance in the U.S. Defense Industry: 1988–1992.”

Following his graduation from Georgetown, Ryan O’Sullivan assumed the role of an Associate at Ankura Consulting in Washington, D.C., where he joined the Financial Services Disputes and Investigations team. Here, he played a vital role in assisting expert witnesses in crafting expert reports and conducting data analysis and document reviews to support financial institutions in their defense against various allegations. His dedication to legal and financial matters was further refined during his tenure as a student trainee within the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he diligently reviewed court filings, assisted in preparing discovery requests, conducted in-depth research on case laws, and drafted court documents.

Presently, Ryan O’Sullivan is pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, where he contributes as a staff member at the Northwestern University Law Review. His academic accomplishments have garnered recognition, including the prestigious Kirkland & Ellis Scholar Award for achieving the highest grade in a 1L course section. Ryan’s exceptional persuasive writing skills also earned him the distinguished Arlyn Miner Book Award, an honor bestowed upon only a select few. During his 2L year, he serves as a teaching assistant to Professor Evan Elsner, an esteemed appellate attorney who instructs on Communications and Legal Reasoning at Northwestern. Ryan actively engages with various Northwestern University clubs that influence both his peers and the community, fostering discussions on contemporary social, political, and academic issues. Notably, he is a dedicated member of the Northwestern University chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) and enthusiastically participates in the organization’s events and activities.
